在屈原的詩作中，還有這樣的名句：
“鸞鳥鳳皇日以遠兮，燕雀烏鵲巢堂壇兮”(見《涉江》)。在這兩名詩中竟寫出了鸞、鳳、燕、雀、烏、鵲6種鳥。
在兩漢樂府中，運用動物形象的詩句更多。在長詩《焦仲卿妻》中，利用孔雀和鴛鴦來表達男女之間的感情，而其開頭便是“孔雀東南飛，五里一徘徊”，其結(jié)尾則是：
“中有雙飛鳥，自名為鴛鴦;仰頭相向鳴，夜夜達五更。行人駐足聽，寡婦起彷徨�！�
在《古詩十五從軍征》中，有“兔從狗竇入，雉從梁上飛”的語句。在《江南》一詩中，專門刻畫了魚兒在水中嬉戲的場景：“江南可采蓮，蓮葉何田田，魚戲蓮葉間。魚戲蓮葉東，魚戲蓮葉西，魚戲蓮葉南，魚戲蓮葉北�！倍潭痰�7句詩中，竟有5句是寫魚的。在這一時期中，與動物有關(guān)的著名詩句還有：“愿為雙黃鵠，高飛還故鄉(xiāng)”(《古詩步出城東門》);“胡馬依北風，越鳥巢南枝”(《古詩行行重行行》)等。
在歷史人物曹操僅存的二十幾首詩中，運用動物形象的不在少數(shù)，如《龜雖壽》里，就寫了3種動物：
“神龜雖壽，猶有竟時;騰蛇成霧，終為土灰。老驥伏櫪，志在千里;烈士暮年，壯心不已�！�
在他的詩篇里，還有這樣的詩句：
“白骨露于野，千里無雞鳴。”(《蒿里行》)
“熊羆對我尊，虎豹夾路啼�！�(《苦寒行》。
