Since I was small, I have heard about the Great Wall, it is very long, alot of people come to Beijingto watch it. In China, there is an old saying“Onewho fails to reach the Great Wall is not a hero”.
As it is so famous, I want tothe site when I have a chance. I see many pictures about the Great Wall on thebooks, I also watch it through TV. Every time I see it, I feel so eager to reachthere.
My father traveled there once, he took many pictures, this is the firsttime I feel so close to the site. I must work hard, so I can have money to go tothere.

中國的長城漢語中常叫作“萬里長城”。實(shí)際上它長6 ooo多公里。它從西到東，穿過沙漠，越過高山，跨過深谷，蜿蜒而行，最后直到海邊。它是世界上的奇觀之一。
長城有兩千多年的歷史。最早是在春秋時(shí)期開始修筑的。戰(zhàn)國時(shí)期，各諸候國為了保衛(wèi)自己的邊境，分別修筑了更多的城墻。在秦朝時(shí)，秦國把各諸侯國統(tǒng)一起來，成為一個帝國。為了御敵于國門之外，秦始皇令人把所有的城墻連接起來。這樣，長城就形成了。
長城上面很寬，足夠五匹馬或10個人并排而行。沿城墻有許多烽火臺，過去常有士兵駐守。敵人來時(shí)，就點(diǎn)燃烽火，以通知其他士兵。
沒有任何現(xiàn)代機(jī)器，要修筑這樣一座長城是非常困難的。所有的工作都不得不用手來完成。成千上萬的`人死了，被埋在自己修建的城墻下面。長城不僅是用石頭和土筑成的，而且也是用數(shù)以百萬計(jì)的人的血肉筑成的。
今天，長城不僅對中國人，而且對來自全世界各地的人們來說都是一處名勝。其中許多人都已知道這句中國名言：“不到長城非好漢”。
