But in the old days it was a poor and backward little town. Many people had no work. They lived a hard life.

In 1949 my hometown was liberated. Since then great changes have taken place there. The streets have been widened. Factories, schools, hospitals, cinemas and theatres have sprung up one after another. The life of the people is greatly improved.

突然，爺爺指著字母“Ｇ”問我：“孫女，你看，這個字母該怎么注音？”我一副洋洋得意的神情說：“呵呵，還是讓我來告訴你吧！”我看著字母“Ｇ”，心想該怎么給它做漢語注音呢？還真把我給難住了，沒辦法，我只好找后援——妹妹，一起來想。
妹妹摸摸腦袋，眼珠“骨碌”一轉(zhuǎn)，眉開眼笑地說：“‘Ｇ’不是‘急’嗎？”我嘴里默念著“Ｇ——急——”對呀，于是趕忙幫爺爺寫了上去。爺爺見了，樂得嘴都合不攏了。
看著爺爺認(rèn)真的樣子，我不由得想起了一句名言：活到老，學(xué)到老。其實，大家都應(yīng)該有這種精神，因為知識是無窮無盡的。

Are you repairing your furniture? Are you doing physical exercises? Whatever you do at that time of the night, you have to take your neighbors’ rest into consideration.
