高考英語易混短語辨析

　　1. since then from then on ever since ever before

　　since then意為"從那時起"，通常與現(xiàn)在完成時連用，指從過去某一時刻起到現(xiàn)在為止的一段時間。

　　from then on意為"從那時起"，通常與一般過去時連用，指過去某一時刻之后的時間。

　　ever since意為"自……以后，從……起"，通常與延續(xù)性動詞的完成時態(tài)連用。

　　ever before的意思是"在以往任何時候"，常出現(xiàn)在than后面，其中before是副詞，有時可以省略，ever用以加強語氣。如：

　　He has disappeared since then.

　　From then on he refused to talk about the thing.

　　We’ve been friends ever since we met at school. 

　　More women are going out to work than ever before.

　　2.on board on the board on the boards

　　on board泛指"在船上"，還可指"在飛機或火車上"。這個短語后面也可接船名或船的類型，如：on board the Dongfeng在東風號上，on board a liner在郵輪上。 

　　on the board除可表示"在(具體的)這艘或那艘船上"外，還可表示"在會上討論"。 

　　on the boards中的boards是"劇院，舞臺表演"的意思，其本義是"在舞臺上"，現(xiàn)常引申為"做演員"或"演出"，常用在連系動詞be后作表語。

　　3. too much much too

　　too much 意為"太多"，可修飾不可數(shù)名詞;若修飾可數(shù)名詞，則用too many。

　　much too意為"太……"，相當于very。如：

　　Between ourselves, that young man's hair is much too long.

　　就咱倆之間說說,那個小伙子的頭發(fā)實在是太長了。 

　　Don’t eat too much food.

　　不要吃太多的食物。

　　4.on the air in the air in the open air

　　on the air意為"正在廣播"。

　　in the air意為"在傳播中，可感覺到的，流行"。

　　in the open air意為"在戶外"。如：

　　They were in the open air discussing a problem in the air when the news that a war broke out in Iraq was on the air.

　　5. at/from a distance in the distance

　　at/from a distance 是"從遠處"的意思，表示有一定的距離或在稍遠處。 

　　in the distance 表示"在遠處"，強調(diào)距離之遠。如：

　　The painting can be only admired at a distance.

　　The noise of the car died away in the distance.

　　6. at any moment at the moment for a moment for the moment in a moment the moment

　　at any moment 意為"隨時，任何時候"，與at any time 及at all times同義。

　　at the moment 表示"現(xiàn)在，此刻"，用于一般現(xiàn)在時，也可以說成at this moment，相當于now/at present。

　　for a moment 意為"一會兒"。

　　for the moment 意為"目前，暫時"。

　　in a moment 意為"立即，馬上"。

　　the moment 用來引導(dǎo)時間狀語從句，意為"一……就……"，相當于as soon as。如：

　　We can ask him for help at any moment.

　　I am busy at the moment

　　The man was silent for a moment.

　　For the moment he didn’t know what to say.

　　Hurry up, the film will start in a moment.

　　The moment I saw it I knew that there was no hope.

　　7.care about care for take care of

　　care about 意為"關(guān)心，在乎"，指由于某事重要，或是因責任所在而關(guān)心計較。

　　care for 意為"喜歡，照顧"。

　　take care of 意為"照料"，相當于look after。如：

　　He doesn’t care about his clothes.

　　I don’t really care for red wine.

　　Take care of yourself!

　　8.catch up with keep up with come up with

　　catch up with意為"趕上"，指從后面追上或改變落后的狀況。?

　　keep up with 意為"跟上"，指齊步前進，并駕齊驅(qū)，不致落后或掉隊。另外keep up with 還可以表示"與……保持聯(lián)系"。?

　　come up with意為"提出，想出(計劃、答復(fù)等)"。如：

　　We have done all we could to catch up with them.

　　I think it important that we keep up with the times.

　　The programmer comes up with a solution to the problem.

　　9.take the place of take one’s place take place

　　take the place of sb./sth.相當于 take sb.’s/sth.’s place，即"代替某人或某物"。

　　take one’s place意為"就位"。

　　take place"(尤指根據(jù)安排或計劃)發(fā)生"， 用作不及物動詞，沒有被動語態(tài)。如：

　　Tractors have now taken the place of horses and cows in most villages.

　　Take your place, please. We are about to start.

　　This took place in London.

　　10.out of question out of the question?

　　out of question意為"毫無疑問，肯定"。

　　out of the question意為"不可能，不值得討論"。如：

　　His honesty is out of question.

　　他的誠實是毫無疑問的。

　　It is out of the question for him to stay in office so late.

　　他不可能這么晚還待在辦公室。
