端午節(jié)(農(nóng)歷5月5日)是中國古老的傳統(tǒng)節(jié)日，始于春秋戰(zhàn)國時期，至今已有2000多年歷史。
粽子tsung-tse：Glutinous rice filled with meat, nuts or bean paste and wrapped in bamboo leaves. It is associated with Dragon Boat Festival with historical meaning.The custom of eating zongzi is now popular in North and South Korea, Japan and Southeast Asian nations。
端午節(jié)吃什么?“粽包分兩髻，艾束著危冠。舊俗方儲藥，羸軀亦點丹。”端午節(jié)不可不吃的美味食物就是粽子(tsung-tse)。

賽龍舟

賽龍舟，是端午節(jié)的主要習俗。相傳古時楚國人因舍不得賢臣屈原投江死去，劃船追趕拯救。他們爭先恐后，追至洞庭湖時不見蹤跡。之后每年五月五日劃龍舟以紀念之。借劃龍舟驅散江中之魚，以免魚吃掉屈原的身體。競渡之習，盛行于吳、越、楚。

荊楚之人在五月五日煮糯米飯或蒸粽糕投入江中， 以祭祀屈原，為恐魚吃掉，故用竹筒盛裝糯米飯擲下，以后漸用粽葉包米代替竹筒。
驅五毒

古人將蛇、蝎、壁虎、蜈蚣、蟾蜍等稱為五毒。民謠說："端午節(jié)，天氣熱，五毒醒，不安寧。"每到端午節(jié)，人們用彩色紙把五毒剪成剪紙，或貼在門、窗、墻、炕上，或系在兒童的手臂上，以避諸毒。
飲雄黃酒

雄黃本屬礦物，含有三硫化砷成分，與酒混合，即成雄黃酒，用以驅蟲解五毒。小兒涂于頭、額、耳、鼻、手、足心，并灑墻壁問，以法諸毒。民間俗語有"飲了雄黃酒，百病都遠走"。
懸艾葉菖蒲

民諺說："清明插柳，端午插艾"。在端午節(jié)，家家都灑掃庭除，以菖蒲、艾條插于門眉，懸于堂中。并用菖蒲、艾葉、榴花、蒜頭、龍船花，制成人形或虎形，稱為艾人、艾虎;制成花環(huán)、佩飾，美麗芬芳，婦人爭相佩戴，用以驅瘴。
