How to Be Ture to Yourself.
My grandparents believed you were either honest or you werent. There was no in between. They had a simple motto hanging on their living-room wall: "Life is like a field of newly fallensnow; where I choose to walk every step will show." They didnt have to talk about it – theydemonstrated the motto by the way they lived.
They understood instinctively that integrity means having a personal standard of morality andethics that does not sell out to expediency and that is not relative to the situation at hand.Integrity is an inner standard for judging your behavior.Unfortunately, integrity is in shortsupply today – and getting scarcer. But it is the real bottom line in every area of society. And itis something we must demand of ourselves.
A good test for this value is to look at what I call the Integrity Triad, which consists of three keyprinciples:
1.Stand firmly for your convictions in the face of personal pressure.Theres a story told abouta surgical nurses first day on the medical team at a well-known hospital. She was responsiblefor ensuring that all instruments and materials were accounted for during an abdominaloperation. The nurse said to the surgeon, "Youve only remove 11 sponges, and we sued 12.We need to find the last one."
"I removed them all," the doctor declared."Well close now."
"You cant do that, sir," objected the rookie nurse."Think of the patient." Smiling, thesurgeon lifted his foot and showed the nurse the 12th sponge.
"Youll do just fine in this or any other hospital," he told her. When you know youre right, youcant back down.
2.Always give others credit that is rightfully theirs.Dont be afraid of those who might have abetter idea or who might even be smarter than you are.
David Ogilvy, founder of the advertising firm Ogilvy & Mather, made this point clear of hisnewly appointed office head by sending each a Russian nesting doll with five progressivelysmaller figures inside. His message was contained in the smallest doll:
"If each of us hires people who are smaller than we are, we shall become a company of dwarfs. But if each of us hires people who are bigger than we are, Ogilvy & Mather will become acompany of giants." And that is precisely that the company became – one of the largest andmost respected advertising organizations in the world.
3.Be honest and open about who you really are.People who lack genuine core values rely onexternal factors – their looks or status – in order to feel good about themselves.Inevitablythey will do everything they can to preserve this faade, but they will do every little to developtheir inner value and personal growth.
So be yourself.Dont engage in a personal cover-up of areas that are unpleasing in your life. When its tough, do it tough. In other words, face reality and be adult in your responses tolifes challenges.

Two Ways of Thinking of History.
There are two ways of thinking of history. There is,first, history regarded as a way of looking at otherthings, really the temporal aspect of anything, fromthe universe to this nib with which I am writing.Everything has its history. There is the history of theuniverse, if only we knew it-and we know something of it, if we do not know much.Nor is thecontrast so great, when you come to think of it, between the universe and this pen-nib.
Amere pen-nib has quite a considerable history. There is, to begin with, what has been writtenwith it, and that might be something quite important. After all it was probably only one quill-pen or a couple that wrote Hamlet.Whatever has been written with the pen-nib is part of itshistory. In addition to that there is the history of its manufacture: this particular nib is aRelief nib, No.314, made by R.Esterbrook and Co.in England, who supply the Midland Bankwith pen-nibs, from whom I got it—a gift, I may say, but behind this nib there is the wholeprocess of manufacture. In fact a pen nib implies of universe, and the history of it implies itshistory. We may regard this way of looking at it—history as the time-aspect of all things: a pen-nib, the universe, the fiddled before me as I write, as a relative conception of history.Thereis, secondly, what we mat call a substantive conception of history, what we usually mean byit, history proper as a subject of study in itself.

Your vacation doesnt have to be dead time when it comes to self-improvement.
You can boost your skills while relaxing and de-stressing.
In other words, your vacation can be a great time to improve your emotional intelligenceand still thoroughly remain in vacation mode.
Since thats one of the most important job skills on the market right now, its worth taking a page or two from the most emotionally intelligent vacationers play books.
1.THEY USE THE TIME TO SELF-REFLECT
As the pace of things slackens, ask yourself:
What kind of people irritate me
What kind of people am I drawn to
Who do these people remind me of
Being in a laid back, relaxed state is an excellent time to do some self-reflection.
So sure, have a cocktail or dive into a book, but carve out some time just to be alone with your thoughts.
2.THEY LOOK FOR WAYS TO EMPATHIZE

Notice people and their facial expressions, their posture, dress, and manner of walkingthese are all great ways to gather clues about whats going on with them.
In fact, you can assume this mind-set even when youre going to a movie, out to eat, or to a live performance.

Emotionally intelligent people realize that the worst that can happen is getting a no, in which case theyre no worse off than before asking for something they want.
You might think of the boardroom as the real place to be more assertive, but vacation is actually just as good a time to stretch your asking muscles.
When you check into your accommodation, try asking for an upgrade. If theres a problem with your meal, tell the server.

Because you often wont see the people youre dealing with again, it may be easier to ask for what you want.
4.THEY RECONSIDER THEIR GOALS
Vacations are a great time to revisit past goals or even set new ones.

5.THEY IMPROVE THEIR RESILIENCE HABITS
While you might like to tell yourself that next month youll finally start meditating daily or picking up a journaling routine, life often gets in the way.
Emotionally intelligent people arent immune to this, but theyre good at using vacation time to retool those resilience strategies.
Vacations give us a chance to return to what we know we should be doing for ourselves but dont often make time for.
Years ago, when I started looking for my first job, wise advisers urged,
“Barbara, be enthusiastic! Enthusiasm will take you further than any amount of experience.”
How right they were! Enthusiastic people can turn a boring drive into an adventure,
extra work into opportunity and strangers into friends.
“Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm,” wrote Ralph Waldo Emerson.
An enthusiastic attitude enables us to hang in there when the going gets tough.
Its the inner drive that whispers, “I can do it!” when others believe it cant be done.
We are all born with wide-eyed, enthusiastic wonder
—as anyone knows who has ever seen an infant’s delight at the jingle of keys
or the scurrying of a beetle.
It is this childlike wonder that gives enthusiastic people such a youthful air, whatever their age.
As poet and author Samuel Ullman once wrote,
“Years may wrinkle the skin, but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul.”
We need to live each moment wholeheartedly, with all our senses
—finding pleasure in the fragrance of a back-yard garden,
the crayoned picture of a six-year-old, the enchanting beauty of a rainbow.
It is such an enthusiastic love of life that puts a sparkle in our eyes.

There are no answers.I am very old.I have seen everything and I am none the wiser for the pain and suffering I have witnessed since I rose from the bowels of the earth.I have witnessed the conflict, the death, the civilizations, and the societies that have come before you.Yet I remain mystified about this day.

Life is colorless and tasteless, and pale and white like water, but everyone who has dreams in mind will wave the magic life brush and draw it into a colorful picture of life.
I admire Xu Zhimos imaginative, "gently, gently walked, waved his hand, do not take a cloud", but his approach I beg to differ.Life is short, but sixty or seventy loads, like the wild goose "gently walk through, do not take away a cloud", must regret life.Such a life, just a piece of white paper, no value to speak. We should make the short life a valuable color, so that our life will be gorgeous and brilliant.
When the music giant, Beethoven, was more than 20 years old, his career had just changed. But the God of fate brought him down the disaster and made him deaf. For he loves music, it is a bolt from the blue, but Beethoven did not yield, but with a positive attitude toward life calm face, he took the fate of the throat, with passion, play the splendid music in Ivory on the piano in the white paper to write the beat note, made immortal music, shocked the whole world.Beethoven, who is stubborn and unyielding, did not give up the opportunity to coloring for life.He didnt make life worthless white paper. He became a flaming red for his life paper and made life look brilliant and brilliant.
Beijing Paralympic Games, Shen Canzhi not disabled athletes, and did not regret in life as they strive for? They make great efforts to make up for the regrets and deficiencies in their lives. They add a little bit of value to that regret and lack of life, leaving no regrets for life.Gallop on the sports field, even to win only a bunch of flowers, a warm applause, also let life unfold different splendor.Yes, since it is life, there should be color, there should be hope!
When the falling seeds can not find the dirt, they put their hopes in the last line of the crevice, rooting, germination there, smoking section.Spring green autumn yellow, suisui litter.Even if no crevice between what nutrition, they did not have to give up a chance to grow.Yes, since it is life, it has the right to create brilliance and miracles. You see, the wind blowing the crevice, a green and the birds and the corresponding, singing a hymn to life; you see, the rise of the crevice between a pine, is facing the sun, bathed in the mountain, recite a song of life poem.
God gives us the chance to live. Now that we are alive, we must wave the brush of life, and put the most beautiful colors on the palette of life, and depict the most beautiful patterns.Friends, lets hold the brush and color it for life.

There is a hill near my home that I often climb at night. The noise of the city is a far-off murmur. In the hush of dark I share the cheerfulness of crickets and the confidence of owls. But it is the drama of the moonrise that come to see.For that restores in me a quiet and clarity that the city spends too freely. From this hill I have watched many moons rise. Each one had its own mood. There have been broad, confident harvest moons in autumn; shy, misty moons in spring; lonely, white winter moons rising into the utter silence of an ink-black sky and smoke-smudged orange moons over the dry fields of summer. Each, like fine music, excited my heart and then calmed my soul. But we, who live indoors, have lost contact with the moon. The glare of street lights and the dust of pollution veil the night sky.Though men have walked on the moon, it grows less familiar.Few of us can say what time the moon will rise tonight.Still, it tugs at our minds. If we unexpectedly encounter the full moon, huge and yellow over the horizon, we are helpless but to stare back at its commanding presence. And the moon has gifts to bestow upon those who watch.I learned about its gifts one July evening in the mountains. My car had mysteriously stalled, and I was stranded and alone. The sun had set, and I was watching what seemed to be the bright-orange glow of a forest fire beyond a ridge to the east.Suddenly, the ridge itself seemed to burst into flame. Then, the rising moon, huge and red and grotesquely misshapen by the dust and sweat of the summer atmosphere, loomed up out of the woods.Distorted thus by the hot breath of earth, the moon seemed ill-tempered and imperfect.Dogs at nearby farmhouse barked nervously, as if this strange light had wakened evil spirits in the weeds. But as the moon lifted off the ridge it gathered firmness and authority. Its complexion changed from red, to orange, to gold, to impassive yellow. It seemed to draw light out of the darkening earth, for as it rose, the hills and valleys below grew dimmer.By the time the moon stood clear of the horizon, full-chested and round and of the colour of ivory, the valleys were deep shadows in the landscape. The dogs, reassured that this was the familiar moon, stopped barking. And all at once I felt a confidence and joy close to laughter. The drama took an hour.Moonrise is slow and serried with subtleties. To watch it, we must slip into an older, more patient sense of time.To watch the moon move inflexibly higher is to find an unusual stillness within ourselves. Our imaginations become aware of the vast distance of space, the immensity of the earth and the huge improbability of our own existence. We feel small but privileged.Moonlight shows us none of life’s harder edges.Hillsides seem silken and silvery, the oceans still and blue in its light. In moonlight we become less calculating, more drawn to our feelings.

What is life? What is the purpose of life? Purpose cannot say unimportant, the purpose decides the direction of life, but life is not equal to the purpose, life is still toward the purpose of the whole process, life is a process! Ah, this is the simplest and most unnoticed mistake. The goal of life is our eternal tomorrow, our life is always today, is now, is fleeting now!
The person who has the goal is the person who lives meaningfully, the person who can value the process of life itself and grasp the process is the person who lives fully and truthfully -- "never live a lifetime!" It should be both objective and process quality. The goal is to say, aim high, start from the province, people will get the ideal education. However, many people live for a lifetime. In the end, they do not have the pleasure of life process and enjoy life, which is a lack of life consciousness and introspection. The ups and downs of life, the realization of each situation, not pleased by external gains not saddened by personal losses, gain and loss are the blessings of life.
Life is full of ups and downs. But we often use a kind of benefit coordinate to judge the condition of life. The forward is positive, the back is negative, the rise is superior, and the sinking is bad.In fact, life is far more complex than this coordinate, and the life interest in the ups and downs is far from being a single one.
People are eager to get promoted, to cherish their fame, and to expect the speed of their goals.Life in this way, the process of life more and more neglected, become a kind of look forward to return to pay, to target cost, even the computer can unwanted files, just because of the need to speed up! Acceleration is the commonest common behavior in economic society, because the benefit is directly related to the speed. We also remember that "time is money, benefit is life", and life here is the life of enterprises and social groups, not people! If the pursuit of social benefits becomes the personal life process, that is what we often call alienation; The disease of life process rhythm is another kind of life state, when it is the realm of the individual life to emit light, disease has the beauty of disease, slow and gentle beauty.
Wang wei has a famous sentence: "the grass withered eagle eye disease, the snow to the horses hoof light." The flash of life is not necessarily the time when the grass grows; When life is good, it is not always the step back.Similarly, du fus famous sentence: "the fine rain fish out, the breeze swallow the slope." In the smooth and slow, write out the life calm, also write the love and joy of life.In his life, du fu did not have a chance to rise to the ground, but his soothing and peaceful life felt through thousands of years, slowly like rain, moistening our hearts.

A person, like a commodity, needs packaging. But going too far is absolutely undesirable.A little exaggeration, however, does no harm when it shows the persons unique qualities to their advantage. To display personal charm in a casual and natural way, it is important for one to have a clear knowledge of oneself.A master packager knows how to integrate art and nature without any traces of embellishment, so that the person so packaged is no commodity but a human being, lively and lovely.A young person, especially a female, radiant with beauty and full of life, has all the favor granted by God.Any attempt to make up would be self-defeating.Youth, however, comes and goes in a moment of doze.Packaging for the middle-aged is primarily to conceal the furrows ploughed by time.If you still enjoy lifes exuberance enough to retain self-confidence and pursue pioneering work, you are unique in your natural qualities, and your charm and grace will remain.
Elderly people are beautiful if their river of life has been, through plains, mountains and jungles, running its course as it should. You have really lived your life which now arrives at a complacent stage of serenity indifferent to fame or wealth. There is no need to resort to hair-dyeing;the snow-capped mountain is itself a beautiful scene of fairyland.Let your looks change from young to old synchronizing with the natural ageing process so as to keep in harmony with nature, for harmony itself is beauty, while the other way round will only end in unpleasantness. To be in the elders company is like reading a thick book of deluxe edition that fascinates one so much as to be reluctant to part with.As long as one singing, as if in rivalry.
As I slowly approached the child, I could see by her forehead, which in the sunshine seemed like a globe of pearl, and especially by her complexion, that she uncommonly lovely. Her eyes, which at one moment seemed blue-gray, at another violet, were shaded by long black lashes, curving backward in a most peculiar way, and these matched in hue her eyebrows, and the tresses that were tossed about her tender throat were quivering in the sunlight. All this I did not take in at once; for at first I could see nothing but those quivering, glittering, changeful eyes turned up into my face.Gradually the other features, especially the sensitive full-lipped mouth, grew upon me as I stood silently gazing. Here seemed to me a more perfect beauty than had ever come to me in my loveliest dreams of beauty.Yet it was not her beauty so much as the look she gave me that fascinated me, melted me.

The best friend a man has in the world may turn against him and become his enemy. His son or daughter that he has reared with loving care may prove ungrateful. Those who are nearest and dearest to us, those whom we trust with our happiness and our good name, may become traitors to their faith.
The money that a man has he may lose.It flies away from him, perhaps when he needs it most.A man’s reputation may be sacrificed in a moment of ill-considered action. The people who are prone to fall on their knees to do us honor when success is with us may be the first to throw the stone of malice when failure settles its cloud upon our heads. The one absolutely unselfish friend that man can have in this selfish world, the one that never deserts him, the one that never proves ungrateful or treacherous, is his dog.A man’s dog stands by him in prosperity and in poverty, in health and in sickness. He will sleep on the cold ground, where the wintry winds blow and the snow drives fiercely, if only he may be near his master’s side.He will kiss the hand that has no food to offer; he will lick the wounds and sores that come from encounter with the roughness of the world. He will guard the sleep of his pauper master as if he were a prince. When all other friends desert, he remains.
When riches take wings and reputation falls to pieces, he is as constant in his love as the sun in its journeys through the heavens. If fortune drives the master forth, an outcast in the world, friendless and homeless, the faithful dog asks no higher privilege than that of accompanying him, to guard him against danger, to fight against his enemies. And when the last scene of all comes, and death takes the master in its embrace, and his body is laid away in the cold ground, no matter if all other friends pursue their way, there by the grave will the noble dog be found, his head between his paws, his eyes sad but open in alert watchfulness, faithful and true even in death.

An individual human existence should be like a river—small at first, narrowly contained within its banks, and rushing passionately past boulders and over waterfalls.Gradually the river grows wider, the banks recede, the waters flow more quietly, and in the end, without any visible break, they become merged in the sea, and painlessly lose their individual being.

Motion pictures are most popular not only in the United States, but throughout the world.
Although color television and video recording are gaining greater popularity and may be threatening the future of the movies, motion pictures have somewhat managed to cope with the film crisis in the seventies and remain one of the favorite forms of entertainment of the people.
There are 11,000 motion picture theaters, or cinema, and about 4,000 outdoor "drive-ins", where people sit in their own automobiles and watch domestic and foreign films.Heavy use of the highways in the United States has resulted in the rapid development of what we call roadside business of various kinds, including outdoor movie theaters, or drive-ins, and motels. Both outdoor drive-ins and motels are usually located on main roads near cities and at seaside and other resort areas.
In a drive-in, an enormous screen is put up in an open space, and the cars are all parked facing the screen in long rows. When you have parked, you may open the car window and bring in the instrument that is being handed over to you which gives the sound that accompanies the picture, and perhaps bring in a heater, too.If it is cold, you may well shut the window again, with the sound-reproducing device inside the car, so that you can hear while watching the big screen in front of your car.Drive-in cinemas usually have some kind of cafe in the area, and you can buy Coca-Cola and coffee to drink in the car.
The first drive-in was opened on June 6, 1933 in Camden, New Jersey.Newspapers of the period suggested that the automobile movie theater was an immediate success. On the opening night it was jammed to capacity with six hundred cars. The initial advertisement didnt mention the name of the film to be shown that night, and the people didnt care. The real attraction was clearly the theater itself.Since that night, drive-ins have been welcomed by the people across the whole country.
