第一部分對(duì)話：關(guān)于超級(jí)市場
我們這個(gè)節(jié)目制作組的記者Geoff Howard想了解一家新開的超級(jí)市場的情況，問了三位顧客。

GEOFF: What's the new supermarket like?
SHOPPER l: Big.
SHOPPER 2：It's good.
SHOPPER 3: Marvellous. It's cheap. It's very cheap.

Geoff又向另外三位顧客問了同樣的問題。
GEOFF: What's the new supermarket like?
SHOPPER 4：It's large.
SHOPPER 5：Spacious.
SHOPPER 6：It's very modern.

Geoff和這家超級(jí)市場經(jīng)理談話。這段話在廣播里分段播送。
GEOFF: Alan*，tell me more about the new supermarket. .
MANAGER：Well, It's bigger than the old one, of course. It's 3000 square metres.
GEOFF: What about the old one?
MANGER: Oh,it was about 1500 square metres. This one's twice as big.
GEOFF: Is it cheaper than the old one?
MANAGER: Oh, yes, it's cheaper and better. And it's more modern... and more convenientthan the old one.
*Geoff管經(jīng)理叫Alan，這是經(jīng)理的名字。
不說姓，只說名字，這樣叫比較隨便。
第二部分：英語詞匯表達(dá)
a supermarket 超級(jí)市場
cheap 便宜
convenient 方便
good-looking 好看;漂亮
marvellous 了不起;太好了
spacious 寬敞
He's dark and slim 他長得黑黝黝的，身材偏瘦而勻稱
It's better/bigger than the old one 它比原來的好/大
It's more modern than the old one 它比原來的要現(xiàn)代化
It's twice as big 面積是原來的兩倍
It's 3000 square metres 面積有3000平方米
She's got fair hair and blue eyes 她頭發(fā)顏色淺淺的，眼睛碧藍(lán)
Tell me more about it 再談?wù)剟e的情況
What's it/he/she like? 它/他/她是什么樣的?
What about the old one? 原來的(超級(jí)市場)呢?
What does he/she look like? 他/她長得怎么樣?
第三部分：課程
1.DESCRIBING THIN 描述事物
我們請(qǐng)別人描述一個(gè)事物，提問時(shí)常常用like這個(gè)詞。得到的回答往往是It's+形容詞，或單用形容詞：
What's the new supermarket/it like?
-It's big.
-Big.
也可以用下面這個(gè)句型請(qǐng)別入描述事物：
Tell me about the new supermarket. ，
如果想進(jìn)一步了解情況，就說：
Tell me more about it.
2.DESCRIBING PEOPLE 描述人物
用like提問，請(qǐng)對(duì)方提供他人的情況，有兩種問法：
a) What's John like?
(通常是指他的性格，但有時(shí)也可以指他的外表。)
He's nice.(指性格)
He's slim.(指外表)
b) What does John Look like?(只指他的外表)
He's dark.
其他動(dòng)詞也可以套此句型：
What does it SOUND like?
What does it FEEL like?
What does it TASTE like?
3.COMPARING 比較
It's bigger than the old one.*
It's cheaper than the old one.
It's more modern than the old one.
It's more convenient than the old one.
It's better ** than the old one.
It's twice as big as the old one.
It's three times as big as...
以上所舉各例只是比較等級(jí)的概概。要知詳細(xì)內(nèi)容，請(qǐng)參閱語法書。
*The old one 這里的one用來代替 supermarket。英語里經(jīng)常用one代替上文提到過的名詞。
The new supermarket is big.
The old one was small.
**Better是good的比較級(jí)形式，其最高綴形式是best。
PRONUNCIATION CORNER
注意： ’s用作簡略式時(shí)有兩種情況：
She's nice. (’s=is)
She's got fair hair.(’s=has)
語音練習(xí)：
What's he like?
What's she like?
這兩個(gè)問句說得很快時(shí)聽起來很相似，請(qǐng)注意區(qū)別What's he like?中的[s]和What's she like?中的[ʃ]。
廣播中尚有下列內(nèi)容：
1.超級(jí)市場：大型商場，出售食品和其他物品。購物時(shí)顧客從貨架上挑選好要買的東西，然后在出口處交款。 .
2.Barbara和John：這兩人互相談了對(duì)方的特點(diǎn)，你聽了以后對(duì)他們會(huì)有進(jìn)一步的了解。
3.High和tall的區(qū)別：tall用于人;high用于物。
4.Good在不同的上下文有不同的含意：The supermarket's good. (我喜歡這家超級(jí)市場，這個(gè)地方不錯(cuò)。)
The child's good.(這孩子表現(xiàn)好。)
Good! I've finished!(我為此感到高興。)
Have a good day.(希望對(duì)方痛痛快快地玩一天。)
第四部分：練習(xí)
從這幾個(gè)詞里挑選一詞，填充下列各句每個(gè)詞只填一次。
CHEAP CONVENIENT FAIR BLUE TWICE SLIM
1.The new supermarket is....as big as the old one.
2.John is dark and.....
3.Barbara has..... hair ...and.....eyes.
4.The new supermarket is more.....than the old one.
5.It's very.....too.
