吹糖人
作為中國傳統(tǒng)的民間藝術(shù),吹糖人(Sugar Figure Blowing Art)歷史悠久,然而 隨著中國經(jīng)濟的發(fā)展,這一藝術(shù)正漸漸消失。據(jù)說這一民間藝術(shù)始于宋朝,當(dāng)時被稱為戲劇糖果(operacandy)。吹糖人以糖作為基本材料,糖人藝人用自己的方法熬糖,然后吹成各種人物。藝人先把糖加熱到適當(dāng)?shù)臏囟,然后拉一些糖?syrup)捏成一團,再用各種技巧做出不同的形狀,并涂上鮮艷的顏色。這種藝術(shù)是手、眼、心、 呼吸和一定溫度所需時間控制的真正結(jié)合。一項技術(shù)不過關(guān),整個過程都會失敗。

It is said that this folk drt was formed in the Song Dynasty; at that time it wan called opera candy. The Sugar Figure Blowing Art uses sugar as its basic material, and the artists have their own ways to boil sugar and blow it into various figures. Artists heat up sugar to proper temperature, then pull some syrup and knead it to a ball. Then they make different shapes by using different skills and paint bright colors on the figures. This art is really a combination of hand, eye, heart, breath, and the timing of temperature skill.If there is one skill you couldn’t perform well, the whole procedure will be a failure.

4.熱點問題:可譯為hot topic/issue。
5.切身利益:可以理解為“直接利益”,故可譯為immediate interests。另外,也可譯為vital interests。

皇帝是中國封建社會(feudal society)最高統(tǒng)治者。秦王贏政統(tǒng)一中國之后,稱自己為皇帝。自此,中國開始了長達(dá)2132年的皇帝統(tǒng)治時期。到1912年中國最后一個皇帝溥儀退位,中國歷史上共有495位皇帝。皇帝一人掌握國家政策制定、軍事決策等全部大權(quán),決定著國家和人民的命運。中國歷史上有許多英明的皇帝,他們勤政愛民,制定了許多合理的政策,促進(jìn)了經(jīng)濟和社會的發(fā)展。還有一些殘暴無能的皇帝,他們帶給了人民無盡的災(zāi)難,受到人民的激烈反抗。

Emperor was the supreme ruler of the feudalsociety in China. After Yingzheng, the king of Qin,unified China, he called himself Emperor. Sincethen, China had entered a period of emperorsreign,which lasted for 2,132 years. There were totally 495emperors in the history of China until 1912, when Puyi, the last emperor of China gave up thethrone. Emperors dominated all the rights of policy making and military decision and so on.They were the only ones who could decide the fate of the country and its people. In Chinesehistory many wise emperors were diligent in politics and loved their people. They made manyreasonable policies to promote the development of economy and society. There were alsomany cruel and incompetent emperors who brought endless disasters to the people and wereresisted fiercely.
1.第一句中,“中國封建社會”可用of帶出,放在所修飾的名詞后面作定語,符合英文表達(dá)習(xí)慣。
2.第三句中“長達(dá)2132年的”譯為英語時可用which引導(dǎo)的非限制性定語從句來表達(dá),放在中心詞后面,使譯文前后平衡,避免頭重腳輕。
3.“到1912年中國最后一個皇帝…”一句的主句采用there be句型,說明中國歷史上皇帝的數(shù)量;再用until對時間范圍進(jìn)行限制;在“1912”后面使用when引導(dǎo)的定語從句,說明該年份的特殊性:最后一個皇帝退位。
4.“皇帝一人掌握…國家和人民的命運”一句偏長,可拆譯成兩個句子。后半句“決定著國家和人民的命運”翻譯時增譯主語“皇帝一人”,雖然原文說的是“一個人”,但由于歷朝歷代都有很多皇帝,因此要處理成復(fù)數(shù):theywere the only ones,后面再加who引導(dǎo)的定語從句。
5.最后一句中的“他們帶給…”譯為who引導(dǎo)的定語從句,指代前面的emperors,使譯文避免了代詞的重復(fù),也使譯文的句式更加多樣化。
環(huán)境與工業(yè)化
中國是發(fā)展中國家中的大國,其工業(yè)化正在快速發(fā)展,環(huán)境問題也變得日益嚴(yán)峻,因此環(huán)境保護(hù)被國家視為一項基本國策。近年來,國家采取了很多措施來加強環(huán)境治理,如建立了世界著名的生態(tài)工程“三北防護(hù)林工程"(the Three-NorthShelter Forest Program)。此外,中國也在大力發(fā)展自然保護(hù)區(qū),頒布了《環(huán)境保護(hù)法》(The law on Environmental Protection),加強環(huán)保意識和環(huán)保教育。目前,環(huán)境治理已取得明顯成效,大部分城市環(huán)境和農(nóng)業(yè)生態(tài)環(huán)境得到了很大改善,工業(yè)污染防治能力也大大提高。
