The bat, the birds,and the beasts
There was a big fight between the birds and the beasts. The bat did not join in the fight.
Some birds said to the bat, "Come with us." But he replied, "I am a beast."
Later on, some beasts said to him, "Come with us." But he replied, "I am a bird."
At last the fighting ended peacefully. The bat first went to the birds, and wanted to join in the celebration, but they all turned against him. He then went to the beasts, but was also driven away.
蝙蝠、鳥和野獸
●鳥與野獸宣戰(zhàn)，蝙蝠沒有參戰(zhàn)。
●鳥對蝙蝠說：“加入我們吧。”蝙蝠回答說：“我是野獸。”
●后來，一些野獸對蝙蝠說：“加入我們吧。”但是蝙蝠回答說：“我是鳥。”
●當(dāng)鳥和野獸宣告停戰(zhàn)和平時，交戰(zhàn)雙方明白了蝙蝠的欺騙行為。蝙蝠來到鳥類當(dāng)中，他們都敵視他，蝙蝠去野獸那里，也被趕走。
寓意: 兩面三刀的人，最終不會有好的下場。
The hare and the tortoise
The hare was once boasting of his speed before the other animals. "I have never been beaten," he said, "when I run at full speed, no one is faster than me."
The tortoise said quietly, "I will race with you." "That is a good joke," said the hare. "I could dance around you the whole way."
The race started. The hare darted almost out of sight at once. He soon stopped and lay down to have a nap.
The tortoise plodded on and on. When the hare awoke from his nap, he saw the tortoise was near the finish line, and that he had lost the race.
龜兔賽跑
●兔子向動物們夸耀他的速度，“我從來沒有失敗過，”他說，“當(dāng)我奔跑時，沒有人比我更快。”
●烏龜平靜地說：“我要與你比賽。”“真是笑話，我可以邊玩邊和你賽跑。”兔子說。
●比賽開始了，一眨眼工夫，兔子已經(jīng)跑得不見了蹤影，但是他覺得自己跑得快，對比賽掉以輕心，躺在路邊睡著了。
●烏龜慢騰騰地卻持續(xù)不停地走，當(dāng)兔子一覺醒來，他看到烏龜已經(jīng)快到終點線了。兔子輸了比賽。
寓意: 驕兵必敗;只有持之以恒，才能實現(xiàn)目標(biāo)。
The man and his two wives
A middle-aged man had two wives. One was old, and the other was young. They both loved him very much.
Now the man's hair was turning grey. The young wife felt unhappy about this because it made him look too old.
So every night she used to comb his hair and pick out the white ones.
But the elder wife was glad to see her husband growing grey, for she did not want to be mistaken for his mother. So every morning she used to comb his hair and pick out the black ones.
The consequence was the man soon found himself entirely bald.
白發(fā)男人與他的太太們
●一個中年男人有兩個妻子，一個年輕，一個年老，她們都非常地愛他。
●當(dāng)男人的頭發(fā)漸漸變得灰白時，年輕太太感到很不高興，因為這使他看起來顯得很老。于是，她每晚幫他梳頭時都拔去一些白發(fā)。
●但是，年老的太太很高興他的男人變老，因為這樣自己就不會被錯認(rèn)為是他的媽媽了。于是，每天早晨幫他梳頭時都拔去一些黑發(fā)。
●結(jié)果，不久后男人發(fā)現(xiàn)自己變成了禿子。
寓意: 遇到壓力的時候，我們不能一味地退讓，否則很快會無處可退。
